A new round of Apple Watch Pro leaks has revealed images of purported cases for the 49mm model next to those for the smaller Series 7 and Series 8 watches. According to reports, the Apple Watch Pro will be much larger than the current Apple Watch Series 7 in 45mm or 41mm sizes as well as the rumored Apple Watch Series 8 soon to be announced.
From yesterday’s leaked case and CAD drawings, it appears that the Apple Watch Pro has a new button to the left of its flat display, as well as a protrusion to the right housing a microphone, button, and Digital Crown that are more protected from accidental presses. When worn by outdoor athletes, this watch could easily be damaged by accidental presses. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the drawings were later confirmed.
In fact, 49mm would be too large for some, and too small for others. Gurman predicted that the Apple Watch Pro, with its larger battery and rugged titanium casing, wouldn’t appeal to everyone.
I am six-foot tall and athletic, so I find the 47mm Garmin Epix 2 a bit too small, I prefer the 51mm case. The 41mm Garmin Fenix 7S Sapphire Solar, on the other hand, was just right for my colleague Victoria because of her smaller wrist size. It will be interesting to see how the Apple Watch Pro differs from Garmin watches since they are round.
